The commission:
- Received a presentation from the commission’s Police Policy Research & Recommendations Committee, which gave an overview of proposed revisions to policies related to non-discriminatory policing and procedural justice.
- Changes to the policies include changing the title of policy 5-104 from “Impartial and Professional” to “Non-Discriminatory Policing” as well as updates to and rearranging of policy 9-100.
- To get involved, the next Community Commission on Police Oversight meeting is June 9 and the commission is taking emails at policepolicyfeedback@minneapolismn.gov
- Received public comment from about 14 speakers. The commission voted to extend the public meeting to allow for all registered speakers to have time. Common themes brought up were police brutality, justice for Allison Lussier, what the proposed changes in policy will look like and when they will be enforced.
