The Summit County Land Bank was established in 2012 as a nonprofit community improvement corporation in response to the foreclosure crisis. The organization works closely with Summit County’s 31 cities, villages, and townships to address abandoned, blighted, and tax-delinquent property while supporting community and economic development efforts that strengthen the community. The organization is often given the authority to issue bonds to finance work, which can include purchasing property, demolishing blighted properties, and preparing sites for development.
